Karen McCarthy Woolf is a writer and editor. Her poetry pamphlet The Worshipful Company of Pomegranate Slicers was selected as a 2006 Book of the Year in the New Statesman. Her play Dido, a period drama about a mixed-race girl growing up in Kenwood House in Hampstead in the 18th century was an Afternoon Play on BBC Radio 4 and her short story ‘God’s Lift is Out of Order’, about a friend who committed suicide at age 22, is studied on the national curriculum in Denmark. Karen teaches creative writing for a variety of agencies including the Photographers’ Gallery, English PEN and the Arvon Foundation.
