For many of us books are an important part of our lives. Like music, we often associate times and places with what we were reading at the time. Often we want to share what we are reading with others and try out books that others have enjoyed. When you have finished a book why not pass it onto someone else to enjoy.
Below, some writers tell us which books have meant a lot to them over the years and why.

Rory Clements

When I started to read via Brentwood public library, which my dad and I used to go to regularly on Saturday morning while mum did the shopping, I used to get all the classics, Treasure Island, Black Beauty, Little Women, Children of the New Forest etc, but I think David Copperfield by Charles Dickens was the one that introduced me to a wider vocabulary that helped me with my descriptive writing at school.
